Permitted trailer masses in categories B, B/96 and BE
With a category B driving license: You can drive a trailer with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 750 kg. If the gross vehicle weight of a category B vehicle is 3,500 kg and the gross vehicle weight of a trailer is 750 kg, the gross vehicle weight of the combination may be 4,250 kg and it may be towed with a category B driving license. The gross vehicle weight of the trailer may also exceed 750 kg if the gross vehicle weight of the entire combination does not exceed 3,500 kg. Today, there are also trailers with a gross vehicle weight of 825 kg, in which the maximum mass used for classification may be 750 kg and the vertical load transmitted to the towing vehicle from the trailer may be 10% (75 kg) of the maximum mass. In this case, the maximum technically permissible gross vehicle weight of an O1 category trailer may be 825 kg without conflicting with other requirements for the vehicle category in question.
With a category B/96 driving license: You are allowed to drive a vehicle combination that has a category B towing vehicle and the total mass of the trailer exceeds 750 kg and the total mass of the vehicle combination exceeds 3,500 kg, but not 4,250 kg.
With a BE category driving license: You can drive vehicle combinations consisting of a B category towing vehicle and a towed vehicle with a maximum total mass of 3,500 kg. In this case, the maximum total mass of the combination can be 3,500 + 3,500 = 7,000 kg.
It is recommended to complete the BE category driver’s license at once, after which you can choose a trailer that you can tow more freely.
There is no prescribed tuition for this license category. Under certain conditions, you can take the driving test with your own combination. In our package, in addition to self-study for the theory test, we offer equipment and a driving lesson, mainly for practicing the handling test.

The KSL reference interest rate refers to the reference interest rate referred to in the Consumer Protection Act in accordance with Section 12 of the Interest Act, which is published by the Bank of Finland twice a year and is valid for 6 months at a time. The applicable reference interest rate may not exceed 5%, i.e. the annual interest rate of the loan may not exceed 20%, as provided for in the Consumer Protection Act.
Example purchase: €1,500, with a 12-month payment option. Annual interest rate: 0%. Credit cost/month: €5.60. Actual annual interest rate: 4.01%. Credit costs: €61.60. Total payable: €1,562. Installment/month: €130.60, 12 installments. The credit cost is 0.28%/month of the agreed credit limit, however, no more than €12.50/month. The credit cost is charged in monthly invoices. A driving school account is a continuous credit with a minimum credit limit of €2,000. Other uses of the credit may result in a higher or lower annual percentage rate of interest.
